Window Cleaner or Toy Boy?

…just a thought…
Being the owner of a window cleaning and handyman service has it’s
challenges, advantages and opportunities. Today I would like to take you on a journey to
have a peek inside this world of this services. Please don’t forget to read this
with a smile and a good portion of humour.
A commonly mistaken idea of a window cleaner and handyman is that this
kind of job can be done by anyone, which is true when you do not mind being
treated by a mechanic when you are expecting a surgeon to take care of
your Appendix next time you are in a hospital.

Focusing first on the window cleaner, it takes a special personality in the first
place to become a window cleaner and when I am referring to a window cleaner I am not referring to what we professionals usually call ” Bucket Bob” this is not meant with disrespect it is just picturing,
someone who comes with a bucket and a squeegee bought at Bunning’s to
put a great effort in smearing and spreading the grime on your windows into
an even grey film of frostiness you, your friends and family can enjoy
when the glass of red is poured and everyone is getting ready to watch the
sunset.

I am talking about the real window cleaner who by the way does NOT go
thru your drawers to find the family diamonds, a certain amount of tidiness,
cleanness and or discipline is key essential in personality to choose this as a
job or better say career to make a daily living out of it, as window cleaning is hard work, even for
the trained hand.

Sometimes I hear stories of the guy who knows a guy who had an uncle and
his neighbour was a window cleaner and very very popular with the lonely
housewives a bit like the article in the Sydney Morning Herald …ahh ya, right… it’s like the myth of the
pool boy back in the 80-90 everyone was talking about. Thinking that window
cleaners smell like a mix of sweat and cleaner,  is dripping in sweat a turn on? …I don’t think that gets anyone going…but who am I to know?

I am not
saying it does not happen, I say it never happened to me, what makes me
think I should maybe lose some of my kg’s and drag the treadmill out of the garage,
but I guess it would then be in my way to get to the beer fridge, I better not
bite more off than I can chew and not rush into things. Especially not like ”The Graduate”  looking for a Mrs Robinson.

So, how to choose the “right guy”?
First of all, you must be aware that you get what you pay for and like in any other
trade or industry good people and good service does not come cheap but is mostly
affordable for everyone, thinking of the time and work you safe yourself.

Getting your windows cleaned by a professional service will benefit you in so
many ways from …you don’t have to do it… to protection for your glass
investment on your property.
The best is, to choose a sunshine coast local company, that has a website can
give you a quote and is insured. And most of all listen to your gut feeling.

The Handyman thing,

Charlie-Deets

Yes, anybody can be a Handyman I guess it comes down again to the story with the Appendix. Having that said there are fantastic people out there with fantastic skills and services. To choose the right Handyman for you is as simple as with the window cleaner…

have a look what people say about your Handyman, check the Website and Testimonials and last but not least listen to your feelings.

A good and honest Handyman can provide you with Testimonials or Contacts you can call, with proof of Insurance, brings the own tools and has an Idea what he/ she is talking about, Don’t be tempted to give the Handylady a miss I have seen women in this industry with fantastic skill’s and some are better than their male coworkers, as I tell my (6) daughter “you can do everything that a boy can do and even a little more and better” my son (7) sees this totally different but I am a great believer in girl power and hope so are you.
