Warning your Family and house might be at risk.
On Thursday 16.3.17 at 6 am our sleep was interrupted by a very loud
scratching and smashing noise followed by a big swoosh, a moment of
silence, then our crying children gave away that it was real and not just part of
a dream or illusion.
They were shaken by a big fright and came running
along the corridor. A quick look in each room showed that the sound we
heard had nothing to do with the inside of the house so we went outside, a part of a
big tree has fallen from council land into the garden and onto the roof of the house a small
shed in the way was opened like a can of soup by a 4×4.
The interesting thing about this story is that my wife organised with our
landlord to cut this tree back month ago as she saw the tree always as a thread to wellbeing of our children
and to the house, the tree is on council land and
therefore the sunshine coast council was informed by our landlord… finally 3 weeks ago
someone from the council showed up to take some pictures and not really
ambitious to get things cutting “will let you know” where the parting words.
To his defence a very nice guy just caught up in the system, I guess.
You should have seen his face when he was ordered back on Thursday morning after such short
time to our address and seeing the same tree down that was handled as not a threat a
few weeks ago.
I am just thankful that we all had that day a “sleep in” as my wife and
children are at this time often in the garden.
It seems that the council is trying to get out of the responsibility for the
damage to the house the insurance guy told our landlord who is by the way
the best landlord you can wish for.
This article should only be a heads up for you to check around your house and
listen to your wife’s
…look for trees that can reach your house if they fall
and remember this tree did not look ill or dead nor was it stormy that day it
just came out of the blue. And Check with the council if they pay in case of a damage, as they have new terms.
